Software Defined Radio (SDR) is a new paradigm for the implementation of wireless communication systems. It delivers improved flexibility, reduced development and manufacturing costs, and enables myriad new applications.  SDR, however, is a complex technology that requires diverse skills like communication, hardware, software and RF engineering.

To ease out the efforts needed to develop SDR, YES has designed a standard complaint SDR development platform (Astitva) in an effort to deliver a development suite that is specifically designed for SDR applications.

Applications

  • Astitva SDR platform couldbe used as next generation multi-protocol multi-band (MPMB) reconfigurable and software upgradeable military radios that will allow much needed interoperability and flexibility needed in such scenarios.
  • It will pave the way for developing frequency agile communication systems by opportunistic frequency access (Dynamic Spectrum Access) which will help provide wireless provide broadband connectivity to the masses.
  • Replacing the current practice of having multiple radios (Wifi, GSM, FM, Bluetooth, GPS) in consumer mobile phones, this platform could be extended as mobile multi-standard terminal (MMTs) which will serve as the common hardware platform for different present and future radio needs.
